Night to Shine 2019 FAQs

FAQ

What is “Night To Shine“?

Night to Shine” is a prom-style event, sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation, and hosted by churches all around the world for adults with special needs that are 14 years old or older.  The event is held at participating locations, such as Southminster Church in Gastonia, NC, so that guests may attend in the community or nearby.

When is the event?
The event is held on the same night all around the world. For 2019, the event will be held from 6pm until 9pm on Friday, February 8th.

Where is the event?
Southminster Church is one of many locations hosting the event in cooperation with the Tim Tebow Foundation.  Visit the Tim Tebow Foundation website to find a location near you.

What should I wear?
The event is a prom-style event with music, dancing, limo rides, formal portraits, food, and more.  Recommended attire is something you would wear to a prom or semi-formal or formal dance.

Do you offer Dresses or Tuxedos?
Southminster will not be able to offer Tuxedos and Dresses this year due to a shortage of returns from prior years.  However, the Tim Tebow Foundation has made arrangements with the Men’s Wearhouse for a special $40 discount on Tuxedo packages over $100.  Mention special offer code 8230865 to take advantage of this discount when you visit the store for a fitting.

When can I register to attend?
Each location that is a host for “Night To Shine” requires pre-registration so they know about how many guests may be attending.  Locations may have a limit for the number of guests and volunteers that can safely fit inside their buildings.  Southminster Church will open guest registration around the first week of December 2018.

What are Buddies?
To ensure that each guest has a unique experience, a volunteer will be assigned as your “Buddy” for the night.  Your Buddy will help you find the activities you are interested in, be there to answer any questions you may have, and to assist you during the crowning ceremony.  They will also help you find your ride at the end of the night and ensure you pick up any coats you may have brought with you and any party favors you may want to take home with you.

Can I bring my own Buddy?
A Guest is welcome to bring someone they wish to be their buddy, but we ask that the buddy register at our Volunteer page so we know you have a buddy already assigned. All volunteers in a buddy role must be at least 16 years old and provide information that allows us to perform a background check (if 18 or older or a parent/guardian-signed permission form if under 18) and attend a short training session at the church to familiarize themselves with the layout, facilities, and policies set forth by both the Tim Tebow Foundation and Southminster Church.
